대한민국전도 / The Map of Korea

인간이 삶에 대해 두려움을 느끼는 이유는 그만큼 삶을 사랑하기 때문이다.

그런 두려움이 없으면 삶은 오히려 삭막한 전쟁터로 변한다.

그래서 삶에 대한 두려움을 떨쳐버리기 위해 우리는 행동해야만 한다.

침묵은 죽음과 다름없기 때문이다.

A reason that a human being feels a fear of life is because of loving life that much.

If there is no such dread, life rather changes into dreary battlefield.

Thus, we need to act in order to throw off a fear of life.

That is because silence is no better than death.

나는 지금 대한민국전도를 작성 중이다.

이 지도는 각기 다른 장소에서 찍은 이미지로 엮었다.

나의 지도는 땅의 기록이 아니라 시간의 기록이다.

나는 목격했고 기록했다. 그러나 증언할 용기가 없다.

다만, 21세기 초반을 살다간 지식인의 한 사람으로 은유와 비유로 가득 찬 시간의 지도를 만들어 은밀히 남기고자 한다.

혹시 이 책을 가지게 되실 분들께 바라는 것은 지도 위의 컴퍼스는 언제나 21세기 초반의 대한민국을 가리키고 있다는 것을 나는 증언하고 싶었다는 것이다.

I am currently creating a complete map of Korea.

This map consists of images photographed in each different place.

My map is a record of time rather than of the earth.

I witnessed and recorded. However, I do not have the courage to testify.

Still, as one of the intellectuals who lived in the early 21st century, I would like to create a map of time full of metaphors and analogies, Then covertly leave it.

I want those who might own this book to know that I wanted to testify to the fact that the compass on the map always points to the Korea of the early 21st century.
